It's not hearing like you and I know it. Sound is caused by vibrating the molecules in the air at certain wavelengths, so they are just reacting to the vibrations caused by yelling, not actually perceiving sound like us.
Some colonies can be more sensitive than others to disturbances. It might not even be your yelling, just related heavier footsteps that usually happen when someone is upset.
