I am hoping someone can help me identify this ant.  Other than RIFA, these are the only ants I’ve been able to find in my backyard.  They are near and old pile of 2x4’s.  I want to say they are Camponotus, but I am very very new to the ant world and my guesses are pretty much worthless.2C43E241-879F-4C53-85B4-F10784CB01F1.jpeg

I don't think that's camponotus. Where are you in the world? I'd guess aphenogaster or leptothorax because of the two segmented pedicel?

Starting this July I'm posting videos of my ants every week on youTube.

I like to make relaxing videos that capture the joy of watching ants.

I apologize.  I don’t think it will let me change the title.

I am in Goose Creek, South Carolina, USA.  Most of the info requested I don’t know what they are.  This particular ant (and his buddies) are about 3/16 of an inch.  They were found under an older 4x4 piece of lumber that was left over from a porch build.  The area is very moist as the hose bib leaks.  The ants were both under the wood and out in the open with what appears to be a trail to another pile of 2x4’s.  They were not aggressive and not excitable.

Again, I apologize for not posting in accordance with the rules.  If I need to delete this post and repost, just let me know.

Possibly Solenopsis xyloni?

Ants are Pets, not Pests.

-Camponotus sansabeanus

-Camponotus US-CA02

-Camponotus vicinus

-Formica podzolica

-Monomorium spp.

-Pogonomyrmex californicus

-Solenopsis spp.

Need a location to be sure, but these are definitely Solenopsis major workers. If you find a lot of S. invicta, that's probably what these guys are too.

It isn't against the rules, but it does help everyone get you an answer a lot faster giving us all the right information.

S. Invicta or xyloni, surprised it isn’t attacking you if it is invicta

Did it sting you?

No, it did not.  It actually didn’t pay me any attention whatsoever.

Those ants are always out to get me, whether it be killing native queens or stinging me until death.
