So last year was very unsuccessful for starting with ant keeping in Japan. I think I finally got a queen ant (big but, scars where wings are supposed to be and not a spider acting like an ant like last time).
However, it took a good 40 minutes to get home so I could put her in a tube with some water. The fact that the wings are also gone already make me think she will probably die before her colony even started. I just checked on her after giving her some minutes of peace and now she is not moving at all anymore. She is still holding onto the tube so I guess she is still alive.
Is this normal behavior? Like de-stressing or something?
Walked in the park with my wife and kid for over one and a half hour and only found 1 queen. Really hopes she survives as I have already given her a name haha.
Anybody knows which species it is or if it even is a queen. I got this book "Ants of Japan", but so far no luck in finding out which species it is. :s
