10mm, caught in central Florida near housing.

Is it also a queen?

I second pseudomyrmex worker. Get a closer pic of her mid segment just to be sure but that’s probably a worker. Still cool find though.

Looks like it's probably P. cubaensis.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Dude can you stop questioning our ID skills? Some of us have been IDing ants for years, so there is no need to doubt what we say.

Not questioning. Reason I was getting better pics was bc I went to release the ant, and realized that I made a foolish measurement mistake. 5-6mm is correct

Also, i don’t think it is, but is it a queen? I can’t tell with Psedumyrmex

Well, I question ID Becuase I got two different answers on my other topic. Also, I asked ab invicta and xyloni Becuase you can assume based on body shape, but the real way is to get the workers under a microscope, and see if they have a 3rd tooth(invicta) or 2 teeth(xyloni and geminata)

invicta and xyloni are a rare exception when it comes to ID. Most other species can be positively identified with just a picture. Also when multiple people agree with someone’s ID it is likely correct.

It is a worker. Two people have already responded to your original picture saying that it was a worker.
