Pheidole Hyatti are polygynous. But we don't know for sure if the colony he collected had multiple queens. But if the other part of the colony that was left behind does have another queen or queens then they'll be alright.

This colony is doing really great right now. Lots of pupae as you can see…..The colony with be getting tons of new workers in the next week. I’m gonna need a new nest for them soon. I do not see any major pupae yet sadly. I should be getting some very soon though. I may do tubs and tubes for their first setup. These guys are still my favorite colony currently.
Usually at the 40 worker to 60 worker mark they get their first majors.

The colony was collected so it should be different than founding.
Actually, it really isn't. My Pheidole hyatti during founding had a rough first year only making it to 60 workers because of my lack of food for them. So, they went down to 9 workers from the original 60 after I moved them into a natural setup and that was when I knew this wasn't going to work. So I removed them from the setup and put them in a test tube to grow numbers again and to my utter dismay there was only 7 minors and 2 majors and only 10 pieces of brood including eggs. So I brood boosted them with around 40-50 pupae from a wild colony that was unharmed because since I saw the queen I led her to the hole in the ground so the workers can guide her to safety. So, surprisingly even with the brood boost they didn't make any majors and were up to around 40 workers but the queen had started laying a ton. So after, the queens eggs turned into larvae and then to pupae I saw that some larvae were bigger than others and they had turned into basically majors but really just a minor-major because the head wasn't that big but they'd still be considered majors. And this was over a year after I had caught them and founded them.

They got their first worker in captivity. Yo I can see it below the queens head to the left. I will post another pic with more workers.
congrats!
Here’s a pic with more workers that they got.

nice!!
These guys are doing great currently. They have around 25-30 workers now and no majors yet. I do see larvae major now so they will soon be getting some majors. I had also moved them into a new setup because there were too many workers at the entrance of the test tube so I wasn’t able to feed them or else tons of workers would escape. I will update this again once I see major pupae.
