All right, I totally forgot to create one of these despite being a member for a couple weeks now. You guys can call me 'bm' for short, like most of my buddies on Roblox do.

I like ants (SURPRISE!!!), but the most common species here happens to be Linepithema humile, plus a few others scattered here and there. Suffering in high school is my number one hobby, and whenever I don't do that I usually enjoy procrastinating. That includes researching ant species, reading, playing various video games (haven't played Genshin since Thanksgiving, so I'm definitely not a weeb or anything), watching sci-fi anime, and being a total nerd.

Didn't really get into antkeeping until last summer in 2021, but I have been a fan of AntsCanada since elementary. I haven't caught any good queens during nuptials flights with the exception of a Tetramorium immigrans queen that was soon slaughtered by the local L. humile. I've seen a couple Hypoponera opacior queens, but wasn't very interested in ants at the time, so I made the horrible choice of letting them go. Now I kinda want them back. I also caught a Brachymyrmex patagonicus queen in Los Angeles once, but it escaped into the hotel room because I didn't bring any test tubes. Since then I've tried raising L. humile with little success.

Thank you for taking the time to read my tragic life story

I might try to start some journals, but maybe after I catch a couple more species and get a better cam to take better photos with

My current targets are Prenolepis imparis queens and Camponotus founding nests, hopefully I can catch some this February...

you are lucky. I have three feet of snow still on the ground at my house with no signs of spring at all.

Look on the bright side: with that kind of cold, you won’t have RIFA or Argentines.

Yeah, you have a better opportunity to catch native species than around here, where it's 90% Argentine ants...
