I’m very new to keeping ants but I’ve been extremely interested for several years, introduced to the hobby by AntsCanada (like many of you I’m assuming). I love eusocial insects and all hymenopterids, especially honeybees. Currently I have only 2 young queens, Camponotus novaeboracensis (with 5 nanitic workers and a large brood pile) and Tetramorium immigrans (15-20 workers and just a few larvae), and hoping to catch more this summer.
I also keep isopods, from local species to my area like Porcellio scaber and Armadillidium vulgare, but also P. laevis Dairy Cow and White Out.
Also I have a ton of springtails, obviously to help with the isopod colonies.
I love biology and evolution, so I know the basics of ant care, and obviously I’m excited to learn more
Anyone near Madison wanting isopods, I would love to trade some starter colonies for a queen or two!
