Atta are illegal in canada, as with all fungus growers. Your only option would be to import one and risk getting fined, although I definitely wouldn’t recommend that.

impossible with atta, unless you are a lab or zoo. Canadian anter even tried a 250$ Risk assessment for trachymyrmex, which are probably the least dangerous fungus grower.Atta are illegal in canada, as with all fungus growers. Getting a permit for ALL fungus growers is currently more or less impossible. The cheapest/fastest way would be to get zoo accreditation and get a facility set up for them. Getting anything in that group legalized is currently impossible due to the lack of scientific literature on the effects of potential effects of both the ants, their symbionts, their parasites, and associated organisms, unless someone finds established populations in Canada.
Otherwise, the punishment is:
-
(a) an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or to both; or
-
( an indictable offence and liable to a fine not exceeding two hundred and fifty thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or to both.
