Hello,

i had my Myrmecocysus Mexicanus in a test tube until recently and they spinned cocoons.

However i moved them to a THA mini hearth and i added some sand/substrate for them and they piled it up.

Despite this my ants put their brood on the water tower and i just noticed today that there are 2 larvae which became pupae without spinning a cocoon  %)

i don't understand what is happenning, has anyone already experimented this ?

UPDATE : the two nanitics fed the 2 pupae without cocoons to the larvae x)...

Could it be that i don't feed them enough ?

The queen stopped to lay eggs since i put her in the THA mini hearth.

Try putting in some more sand or substrate. Myrmecocystus need this in order to successfully spin cocoons.

Already did it :( .

Now they are feeding their larvae with the eggs... Perhaps they need more prots ?

Has anyone already tried to give ants fitness drink proteins ?

they don't seem to want flies and worms.
