I thought it would be useful to have a record of people's success rates with different species they have kept over the years. I know that the difficulty of each species can vary from keeper to keeper, and that many factors affect each queens success rate, but if we get enough data someone could theoretically compile standard difficulty ratings for individual species. If you want to contribute feel free to share what your success/death rates are with species you often keep. Only consider queens and colonies that died naturally or randomly, and not killed experimentally or purposefully.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I recently collected 50 queen Lassuis Americanus on aug 15. They all have eggs and some workers are just hatching. Despite my best efforts, of the 50 queens I collected I only have 39 left so that’s a 22% loss and 78% success. All died of seemingly natural causes.
