Hi Guys! I've been waiting for a bit, but I FINALLY got my hands on an import permit!
(This one is for Camponotus castaneus, Formica pallidefulva, Monomorium minimum, and Aphaenogaster treatae from Florida)
It seems as that even though almost-native species can't be imported at all (for commercial/personal use), some of our natives can be brought in, as long as they aren't know pests.
With that said, I'm looking for anyone with the following in the following year. Just to be clear, I understand that my address is pretty prominently on the permit-- you can look up Canada Ant Colony on Google and get the same result.
I require a permit per person from the Canadian government, and they require a name and address, so warning on that part.
To transport to Canada legally, the ants will be shipped direct to Reptile Express, which is an experienced pet importer at Niagara Falls. They are situated by the customs inspection site. A vet will inspect the ants beforehand to confirm the identity. Please note that the import process is fairly expensive (i.e. up to a couple hundred dollars per person per shipment), so higher numbers of queens are quite a bit better.
