Well I think he's just asking a general question but the methods may vary so I don't really know how to answer this lolSpecies? Having a specific species would assist.
I saw someone on Facebook a long time ago who has a Diacamma colony without a fertiile gamergate and the next day he saw that a male had flown into their nest and mated with a dominant worker. So I guess you can get colonies like that but you need to be extremely lucky.
