So during nuptial flights, I had collected a bunch of Lasius Flavus queens (12 - 15) in a single tube, then accidentally set that tube to the side and forgot about it for a few days. When I went to check on them, there was a massive pile of eggs. Since L. Flavus can be polygamous, I decided to just let them be and see what happened.

It appears we have an egg eater or two, because I'm seeing smaller piles of eggs but no larvae (which they should definitely have had by now)

I am going to separate them into their own tubes with a small drop of sugarwater to help make up for the previously expended energy.

But it's already early October...so I'm wondering, should I put these guys in my extra warm garage (about 27c or 85f) until they have workers, then hibernate? Or should I do an earlier hibernation?
