Soo I wasn't gonna make a journal on these but they have blew my mind. So a while back in around December I bought 2 camponotus semitestaceus queens incase one died I would have another. One laid eggs and founded a colony (that is now dead). But the other one I just kept in my drawer. I thought she ws a dud so I didn't do anything with her, until i checked on her. She laid eggs, then workers came in, and now she is producing like crazy fast. Now there in a mini hearth(this all happend in around a month.) Here they are20210921-120100.jpg she also recently laid some more eggs20210921-115520.jpg The queens is also very fat now 😅20210921-120041.jpg But that about sums it up 😊 👋

Big update! They have more then doubled their size! They were at 3 workers, now there at 8 :) (in the corner you can see a bit of trophallaxis going on)20210926-104356.jpgI have also given them small cricket that they have absolutely demolished20210926-104313.jpgI've seen people use ByFormica feeders so I bought some, put some nector in their and gave it to them, they REALLY like the feeder, it's only been 3 days and it's already halfway finished20210926-105139.jpgSooo that's about it :) :) :)

Sooo I checked up on her today and the major larvae is now a cocoon, and even though it's nearing winter, the queen doesn't care and produces eggs like CrAzY20211012_092718.jpg 20211012_092718~2.jpg so yea I estimate around 25ish eggs are there.
This'll concluded this update, cya😁

Wow, it's been awhile since I've updated this-busy with stuff-. Butttt the colony is at 24 workers, and the queen continues to lay more eggs, and nearly all the cocoons hatched 20211114_103823.jpg And her majesty looks majestic as usual20211114_104456.jpg
On a bad note, all the cocoons that I thought were majors, were actually just big minors. I also found out that there favorite food is spooders, they absolutely swarmed a spooler I gave them, and with an hour it's was hollowed out.
Welp that's about it cya👋

Okayyy so it's been awhile since I've updated but something very surprising happend. So on January 6th the queen died :(, but she still had alot of workers and brood. I was going to realese them, but I read somewhere that workers that don't have a queen might except a new one, or something like that. I didn't really believe it but It was worth a shot so I bought another queen from Ecan, and each day I would add a few workers from the old colony to the new queen, and too my surprise they accepted each other, and now here they are :)20220302_165016.jpg

Also I think I found there favorite food-crickets lol

I also feel like giving the queen a name, any sugestions?

Small update, but the queen has laid tons of eggs(most of which are already larvae), and they placed most of their brood on the water tower.

Still looking for name suggestions for the queen🙂

Update timeeee, the mini hearth xl had a mold outbreak(very surprising since they were very high quality) and a few workers passed away, I moved them into this ytong nest with two floors, and since I didn't have any spare outworlds I made my own DIY one20220418_084608.jpg it ain't the best but it'll do. The queen also laid another pile of eggs and most of the larvae have turned into pupae, still waiting to get a major though20220418_084821.jpg 20220418_084848.jpg And if anyone's wondering I feed them a full sized cricket every 5ish days, and give them full acces to ByFormica ant nector 24/7.20220418_084717.jpg not sure why the queen be looking so mad🤨
I'll probably be updating more often now since summer is starting up and they'll be growing faster
