Currently keeping: Pheidole obscurithorax (FINALLY I CAN STUDY THEM AND HAVE THEIR COOL MAJORS  B)), Tetramorium bicarinatum, Solenopsis spp. (probably xyloni, the queens are tiny hehe)

Wanting: Atta texana, Camponotus planatus (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HOOK ME UP WITH ATTA)

I now keep 6 species:

 

Temnothorax nylanderi (acorn ants)- they are native from here in Germany

 

Lasius niger (black garden ant)- I collected the queen myself last year (Germany)

 

Messor barbarus (harvester ant)- from Southern Spain- my largest colony with about 500 workers currently

 

Camponotus piceus- a small, shiny black species from Portugal

 

Camponotus lateralis-  a small species that mimics (and is facultative parasite to) Crematogaster scutellaris. The colony is from Croatia.

 

Acanthomyrmex thailandensis- a small species of harvester ants from the tropical rainforest of Thailand

Me and my better half Currently Keeping:

- Camponotus Variegatus (Hawaiian carpenter ant is the largest ant in Hawaii, 650-750 workers, started from 1 queen my bf caught ending of 2023)

- Brachymyrmex sp. (I think Obscurior, 300-400 workers, started from 1 queen I caught under a brick trap in Sep 2023)

- Pseudomyrmex gracilis (newest colony replacing my old twig ant colony that just died out; new one currently has about 20 workers and a few queen alates & males)

Previously Kept: Paratrechina longicornis (black crazy ants)
