So, I have a colony of strobe ants with 3 workers, but I've never actually seen them eat. I've given them sugar water, which disappeared, so I'm assuming they ate some, but that's about all they'll eat. The larvae need protein too, so any ideas for that?

Are you talking about strobe ants (Opisthopsis) or spider ants (Leptomyrmex)?

sugar water is all the adult ants need, crickets and mealworms are the best protein source though you can try cooked meats that are not too processed.

Opisthopsis, leptomyrmx is my username. Ok, thanks, I'll try some cooked meat.

Hi I don't have these ants, but I'm a little obsessed with them, so I'll share some good videos that might have some clues. Here they are eating a cricket head.

A much larger captive colony taking on a freshly killed (maimed??) roach.

bonus cute video of wild queen digging her chamber in soil

So, there is verified evidence they will eat cricket and roaches.

Starting this July I'm posting videos of my ants every week on youTube.

I like to make relaxing videos that capture the joy of watching ants.

CoolColJ had a journal on here, but it hasn't been updated in a while. The Opisthopsis were always my favorite.

To the OP, it might be of some help: https://www.formicul...achis-myrmecia/
