Hello, I have made some hydrostone formicariums and I wanted to see what people thought of them. You may post your CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. And use these as inspiration.

This one is a founding one. That tube is a makeshift nest mate. There is a water tower underneath it.

This is another founding one but much smaller and only suitable for small species. They is a container on the bottom with a sponge wick leading into a sponge circle that is surrounded by a small slice of tubing to stop all of the hydrostone getting wet.

Young ant keeper with a decent amount of knowledge on local ant species.

YouTube: https://m.youtube.co...uKsahGliSH7EqOQ (It's pretty dead. Might upload again soon, don't expect my voice to sound the same though.)

Currently kept ant species, favorites have a star in front of their names (NOT in alphabetical order, also may be outdated sometimes): Camponotus irritans inferior, Ooceraea biroi, Pheidole parva, Nylanderia sp., Paraparatrechina tapinomoides, Platythyrea sp., Anochetus sp., Colobopsis sp. (cylindrica group), Crematogaster ferrarii, Polyrhachis (Myrma) cf. pruinosa, Polyrhachis (Cyrtomyrma) laevissima, Tapinoma sp. (formerly Zatapinoma)

Death count: Probably over a hundred individual queens and colonies by now. I cannot recall whatsoever.

Deep formicariums are difficult to photograph. That's my only criticism.

Not sure if this qualifies as a hydrostone formicaruim. This is a digging nest hydrated through a hydrostone hill that has a water duct filled with cotton.

I am too lazy to hydrate a normal Petrie dish formicaruim every 3 days so I came up with this.

I used the founding nest for a tetra queen. It’s worked well so far!

It took me a little while but I finished my antpartment! Tell me if you approve ANTdrew. There are two entrance holes and duel water towers so I can hydrate the nest according to species. I also drilled a hole in the back for additional humidity thanks for the idea ANTdrew!

I got it from a relative in Florida who saw me looking at it. I think they found it the “the container store”

I did it, well at least I tried. I finally finished my mini hearth style nest. It’s definitely not the best but it’ll work well with larger species.
