i decided to post a guide to finding rare species sooooo....here goes :D

i wanna start with saying that most rare species arent that rare at all the real challenge is that people don't know where to look or they don't know what to look for

if youre used to looking for Camponotus pennsylvanicusyou may not notice a much smaller ant the goal is to train your eye for movement for all you frog keppers I'm sure

youll know what i mean when i say your eyes need to be as sharp as a toad when it comes to movement

another thing is where to look. when I'm looking for rare ants i look where i feel someone wouldn't look when they're searching for ants like a super wet rotten log

or just randomly start digging deep underground  and see what you find i don't know just get wild I'm excited to see what you find :D

sorry for my lack of punctuation recently I'm just too lazy to add periods and question marks so bare with me onthat

I do something similar! I'm an exterior painter, usually doing apartment complexes or large homes and every ant season I'm usually at a new job. Currently surrounded by so many formicas, Pogonomyrmex cali bicolor, and dorymyrmex bicolor at this job. I'm sad its not any of their seasons though lol.

Speaking from experience, yes you have to pay attention to EVERY ant, but a lot of times finding rare species is just pure dumb luck. You never know what'll be under that rock until you flip it.
