I agree on impressa.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I find Colobopsis in my living room, too.

Looks more like C. obliqua to me, with that long head.

From what I'm reading, C. obliqua would be outside their native range here, or close to the edge, and the date of collection is later than expected for their flights. I'm a newb, so I don't have a clue. All I know is they're neat looking, really like apples and honey water, and apparently don't mind landing on people. I had another queen of the same species land in my radio room (I'm also an amateur radio operator) when I had the back door open one evening. I got tired of opening and closing it to go outside and realign an antenna I was using to bounce radio signals off the moon, but that's another nerd story. Anyway, she landed on my work bench, and I only had two test tubes, so I put her back outside because I already had one that had a good clutch of eggs going. Note to self: Buy some dang test tubes.
