I hope you are all doing well.

It is my first time trying to prepare a SAFE seed mix for my colonies.

I know each species have their favorites, but, which would be the seed that one must include in the mix (as a kind of universal preparation)?

Also, which are the brands that you recommend. I don't want to cause a problem to the colony with "non-ants-safe seeds".

Thanks for your time.

What species are you feeding them too?

dandelion seeds are pretty universal as they are very small and even smaller seed eaters can carry them. If you know of an area that isn't treated you can even collect wild ones and put the whole flower in. they will take it apart.

Starting this July I'm posting videos of my ants every week on youTube.

I like to make relaxing videos that capture the joy of watching ants.

Dandelion & Bluegrass seeds have always worked for me. Also, i've found that P. californicus tend to like CA poppy seeds as well.

Ok, I feed my Pogonomyrmex dandelion seeds, California poppy seeds, and Kentucky bluegrass seeds. That's pretty much it!

A lot of ants like shelled hemp hearts.

Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.
