Is it normal for Camponotus herculeanus to cannibalize their dead?
I have found two workers in pieces in the out world.

Maybe the dead ants dried out and broke apart. Doubt they would cannibalize their own species or members of the colony.

Some ants chop their mates by dragging them out of the nest. Afterwards these parts are usually brought to their rubbish dump.

My Lasius neoniger colony definitely recycles its own workers, as I've observed on many occasions.
However, I believe the consensus is that many ants do not engage in this behavior.
