How To Dump Your Ants From Testubes?

This might seem a bit dumb of a question, but how do you dump your ants from test tubes? Whenever I try to dump, the ants always stick to the cotton/sponge water barrier, resulting in me having to do it by hand (or in this case, forcep), which is tedious with smaller species of ants.

Whenever I try to dump, the ants always stick to the cotton/sponge water barrier, resulting in me having to do it by hand (or well, forcep), which is hard (or well, more specifically more tedious) with smaller species of ants.

tilt the test tube up side down and some fall out but the rest of the colony and brood will still be there. I then hit the test tube and you gotta have a good grip. Then they all go in. Sometimes the test tube may leak but be careful. If there is still brood sitting there just use a q-tip to get the remaining brood out. Make sure you fluff out the q-tip a bit to it won’t squish the brood. I dump them into a plastic container with baby power around it.

Would the violent shaking/slapping be detrimental to the brood? I'm considering this for one of my rhytidoponera colonies

For the few workers sticking to the cotton with water,  I usually disturb them with a chopstick to get them to move to the sides of the tube or fall off. I then flick the tube a lot.
