I found this pheidole sp here in nor cal. They would collect tons of seeds from trees that would produce them above the nest. They would have massive trails collecting seeds. They also had a ton built up all around the nest. They were nesting in a gravel drive way.

1.found in Bangor nor cal

2. They were found nesting on July 3rd

3. I’m not to sure on how to describe the habitat so I will post a picture I got of the habitat

4.unknown

5. Dark red and black majors and fully black workers/minors

6. Majors had massive heads biggest I’ve ever seen in person

And this picture is the area around them. This is also what most parts of nor cal also look like. Walking through there made holes in my socks. The pics aren’t the best either because they were small and I moved around the camera a lot so there was lots of blur between frames.

Pheidole is as far as you can go with those images.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Alright thank you! Next time I go there I'll get some specimens and get some better pics and micro scope pics.
