Alright I wouldn't usually go and make a post about this but this person overstepped a line. So, like a lot of people, I sell extra queen's/colonies on GAN to make some extra money to put back into my ants. I've been on GAN since the start of this year and it has gone very well I've sold tons of ants and met some very interesting people as well I have the odd annoying person here and there but today was the worst. This morning I got an Email asking about a P. Bicarinata queen I had for sale. The following are Emails back and forth throughout the day (and yes spelling mistakes and all) I do not share any names for privacy purposes.

 

Them: How much for 1 colony of phedol bicrnata

Me: Hi! I currently don't have any colonies but I do have queens with brood. The prices are 1 queen for $50 or 3 queens for $100.

Them: 50 bruhhhh never mind I'm prolly jus gona go on a walk or somthing and find one cause 50 for 1 queen? yea no

Them: How does that evn mak sence u get 1 queen for 50 but 3 for 100 like that pretty dumb

Them: U must b dum are dumb scammer

Me: (I had only seen the first of the last 3 messages) Oh okay. Good luck!

Me: Oh sorry I didn't see your other Emails. If you think I'm a dumb scammer then you don't have to buy from me. My prices are actually fair and some may even say cheap. If you check other stores you'll see that their prices are the same if not much higher than mine. You must be new to ant keeping if you don't understand this. For example I just sold a Pheidole colony for $200 so $50 for a queen doesn't sound so bad. Does it? But good luck on finding your queen. Please do not contact me again.

Them: I just found someone who had the same queen ant and only for 16 dollars your and the same amount of queens your a dumb [censored]

Me:Um okay who exactly?

Them: it was someone closer last time I saw them it said that they didn't have any then I checked again after your stupid [censored] try selling me that queen ant they were from the same website and how u gonna sell me 1 queen for 50 but 3 for 100 u sound dumb

Them: Oop he just sold them to me

Me: Haha yeah sure there's nobody else in Missouri selling queens. But alright if you think it's unfair just don't Email me. You're not the first idiot I've had to deal with before.

Them: Like I just said he sold it too me

Me: Omg this is great. you're so clueless aren't you? Nobody would take their sale down that fast. I know because I've sold multiple different colonies on here. Plus I stalk the website. Nobody but me has sold in Missouri this year. Thank you for giving me a little laugh.

Them: boy your saying that like you know them just because u haven't sold anything that fast (maybe because of your prices) doesn't mean they didn't sell anything that fast and I been talking to this person for awhile now sooo

Me: Oh just stop lying already I know you didn't buy anything. And for your information I do sell colonies pretty fast. I've made a couple hundred bucks this year. Like I said, if you don't think my prices are fair, go away. Shoo. Go on, get out of here.

Them: LMFAOOO I swear on my mom I literally just bought it you sound so dumb rn

Them: And your the one who keeps responding soo you shoo you go

Me: Thank you sooooo much for this delightful experience, but I have to go help other people that aren't complete and total jerks. So as our last goodbye before I block you. May all your ants escape.

P.S. Maybe this school year work on your grammar a little. Okay? Bye

Them: CD by for my last goodbyes I hope you and your family dies

 

I blocked them after the last Email. It's people like this that get on my nerves. The first couple times it made me upset but now I just try and have some fun with it. If anyone else has had an experience like this and wants to share feel free to.

To be honest, you should have probably ignored them. Their only goal was to make you feel bad and sell them the queen for a much cheaper price. I'm not saying that what you said wasn't justified, but it might have been better to just block and ignore.

I very much agree on this. there are a lot of people who want to buy ants on formiculture or outside of formiculture, but I think that the best everybody can do is just ignore them. the more you talk to them, the more they will be encouraged to trashpost and things like that.

New keepers especially young ones think everything’s overpriced because they don’t have a job to make money. I’m not defending him he was irritating and wouldn’t just say ok, I’ll go catch some or try to find another seller.

I have to say I absolutely would have done what OP did.   I'm admittedly a troll-feeder and would probably let this go on for a month or two.   easily.   Not suggesting anyone else subscribe to that philosophy but... It's mine.   If someone comes at me like that, with me doing no wrong, they should pack a lunch because the conversation might take awhile.
