I am trying out different protein sources for my Very Baby colony of P. imparis. I thought since they eat worms and other soft and chewy things that I could reconstitute freeze-dried prey for them, ie. blood worms or teeny tiny shrimps or a cricket or whatever.

That said, does anyone have positive experience with reconstituting freeze-dried prey for their ants? Or will this be a fool's errand? Should I do it For Science? 🤔

If there is a thread for this please direct me thence.

^here's one on freeze dried bloodworms, I've tried this with some of my ants and they liked it too.

I have a can of...canned worms coming lol. Sort of the opposite end of the spectrum, by all appearances. I'll be waiting until my tetras are both going enough to share some of the eating burden before I crack it open, but I'm definitely curious to see how the prenos take to it.

That bloodworm thread looks like a goldmine though, will definitely be picking some of that up once I've got multiple colonies going.
