I honestly didn't know selling ants is a real business ... In my opinion, I feel it's wrong to sell ant species to places where they don't originaly come from.

THIS IS A HOBBY. I can understand that sometimes you look at ants from other places and think: " Oohh they look awesome!".
But I came into this hobby because I find ants fascinating, doesn't matter which species. I thought that was the main reason people started with this hobby. I didn't think this was a hobby like Pokemon, Gotta catch 'm all (Or Gonna Buy 'm All)

I'm ALL FOR appreciating your local ants but I also find other species MUCH more exciting than others. My local ants include Argentines, Solenopsis and Brachymyrmex mainly so I can't help but want other less invasive, and less common ants. Each species is exciting in different ways. Some have unique traits, like honeypots and leafcutters which are more interesting usually. I personally think there isn't an issue with businesses and people selling ants within Pest laws.

You could say the same thing for every pet hobby. I don't see the problem. I am a tarantula hobbyist. I have a T. albopilosus, but now that I live in CA I can go out and find a native species, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't have my T. albopilosus anymore.

I can so,what agree with requiring permits for ants that are not from your state but I can’t see why you can’t have the ability to freely ship ants like Acromyrmex from California to Arizona when they exist in both states.

I also wondered that, If the ants are native to other states the laws shouldn't be so strict on those. But I assume it was just easier to establish blanket bans lol.
