I found this ant yesterday and turns out its not an ant its actually a type of wasp. She is a orange yellowish color. I am not looking to keep her. If anyone is interested in keeping her I will ship to you as long as you pay postage and are in California. If not I am going to put her back where she came from.

 

She was collected on 8/8/2021 in Petaluma, CA.

I have never seen a velvet ant look like that. It might be something else, but definitely a solitary wasp.

 So tiny right. I didn't know about velvet ants. I grabbed her thinking she was some species of real ant. It looks like one of the ones in the bottom right of this image. ece34123-fig-0001-m.jpg

Definitely a mutillid, but a much better image is needed.
