This is when you know for sure your queen never met up with a male… she makes a male clone of herself as her first offspring.
This worker is an adopted nanitic from a different colony, probably very confused and concerned about what is going on with her colony.
Anyway just thought I’d post out here rather than just in my journal because you know… photos of captive male ants are somewhat rare haha.

Wow that's really interesting! I've never had an unmated queen actually raise an alate although I've read about it.
