Camponotus queens in August?

I went out tonight and happened upon a queen in my driveway, so I went around and looked for more, ended up catching like 7 total, there was apparently a nuptial flight tonight.

Based on their size (3/4 in or 19mm, pictured), they seem to be a camponotus species, but their color and the shape of their gastor and thorax don't seem to match what I'm used to in my area of Washington, plus the only carpenters I know to be flying right now don't look anything like these ones. I went out around 5PM. Am I going crazy or are these carpenters just flying absurdly late in the year?

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Yep, you're definitely right now that I look. I need to remember how similar formica can look to carpenters on a surface glance haha, thank you

I can say their workers are super cute, I was in the beach and there was a nest around and the workers came to me and they was just chilling on me and washing themselfs, not to mention that their color and shape is amazing!
Definitely want to keep formica in my life at least 1 time.
