My sister found a tiny queen ant at school. Maybe a Dolichoderine, I'm not great at identifying subfamilies though.

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Sydney, around Newtown
2. Date of collection: Probably late-September-early-November?
3. Habitat of collection: Urban environment
4. Length (from head to gaster): 4mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Looks black in the photos, but it's slightly brown, with white legs.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Tiny.
7. Distinguishing behavior: Seems less calm than a lot of my other queens.
8. Nest description: N/A

9. Nuptial flight time and date: see date of collection, I didn't actually see alates flying though.

Looks like she could be Technomyrmex or Ochetellus.

Began antkeeping in 2018  :)

Yes, Technomyrmex is what I thought originally because of the white legs and the Technomyrmex colony very close to the collection site, then I saw some photos and they were a little less slim. I think it might have even been in your journal, however the Technomyrmex species in Malaysia would obviously be different from the Australian ones. Probably a bit too small for Ochetellus though.

EDIT: I looked back on your journal and I think she is Technomyrmex. Thanks!

Yes, the Technomyrmex species from Malaysia are totally different from Australian ones. The queens I found are almost identical to the workers but the ones from Australia have a worker to queen ratio similar to Iridomyrmex but not all of them.

My Ochetellus glaber Queen is only 4mm long. Its cool to see such a similarity yet a huge name difference between queens.
