Does anyone know of a cutaway image or something showing how the tunnels/chambers of a Crematogaster (preferrably a Californian species) colony, or a description from personal experience? I ask because I am making my Crematogaster, Tetramorium, and Solenopsis xyloni colonies actual formicariums, but I know the relative shape of S.xyloni and Tetramorium tunnels/chambers. I just want to make this formicarium comfortable for them.

i just put them in a dirt ant farm and they are excavating, i'll post when i think they are finished

The Crematogaster around here live inside of trees. They just hollow out branches. I've found quite a few oak branches around 3/4" thick, and in the middle they are hollowed out really smooth so that there is only like 1/8" of wood on either side. These branches have holes in them that lead to these tunnels.

This is primary C. laeviuscula, but C. punctata also does something similar.
