LMAO good luck getting your hands on those. They are EXTREMELY rare and only nest with formica obscuripes, a species rarely kept in cali in its own right.

You would have to go to the very Northern portion of the California coast to find the most obscuripes.

However, they are present in the Sierras, albeit in rarity. Inaturalist has many misidentified obscuripes records, you cannot trust that map completely.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

yup i know they are near impossible cause there a few records in a creek 3 hours from my house and are also near impossible because they have wingless queens too

I live 3 hours from some records in a creek way up north they wingless queens so it will be very hard and impossible to collect mature colonies since they are social parasites and nest in ovscuripes mounds
