Hello good people of formiculture, this has been a dream of mine since last agust I’ve always wanted a tetromruim colony. I caught this queen on June 4th and I’m guessing it took her a little bit over four weeks. Because when I checked on her and saw she had ten workers the majority of them were mature. I fed them their first meal of berry sugar water. Their brood pile is nice and they are a healthy colony. I plan on feeding them some crickets tomorrow.

I’ve been feeding the them once or twice a day (protein meals) so I’m hoping they can get a lot of brood but their test tubes getting mouldy D:
Anyone know how difficult tetromruim is to move?

They are super easy to move.

Update:
They are doing well besides the mould (I’ll move them soon) they ate a moth the size of a queen in less than 5 hours |: here’s a picture of them dragging half a mini roach and also a large larvae next to the queen. Maybe a bigger worker?
Edit: it looks like the moth’s wings are hers lol

It took all day but they finally moved. I got a good look at their brood pile. I think it’s a pretty good size right? The queen was just starting to lay eggs. I hope she’ll continue to lay though

Update:
This colony is about to take off in numbers I’m so proud of them! They’re favorite food so far is fruit flies they eat so many at a time and tare them to pieces. The queens is starting so hide under her brood more which is pretty funny looking. They are on their third tube because they love making a mess and starting mold all over the test tube. Here’s a photo of them on their first week and another of them on their third week (now)

Update:
Well they’re on their 4th tube I think their hobby is turning their test tube pink. I've been feeding them a lot of fruit flies but soon I’ll have to switch over to mealworms. I gave them a spider about the size of the queen and they ate it…in an hour. It’s insane how much their brood pile has grown in four weeks! I can’t wait to get them into a nest.

They’re such a tidy species, I wouldn’t even worry if it’s a bit big. They’ll still remove the trash to the furthest part of the outworld.

They have a habit of shredding fruit flies eyes and dying the test tube pink but they are starting to clean up

So much brood nice! My largest nanitics crew in the first tube (I think about 7-8 workers now) has just started having arguments about where to put the trash inside the tube lol, so cute. They originally created a trash cave in the water cotton opposite their brood pile, so I sure hope the little girl trying to convince everyone to start leaving the corpses near the entrance instead wins the argument before they join the pink water club

I feel like a parent, I feed them breakfast, lunch, and dinner last night I gave them a cricket this morning I gave them some almond pieces and for lunch I just gave them 5 fruit flies. It’s still super easy I wouldn’t feed them so much if I didn’t enjoy it.

Update:
It’s been about two weeks and they’re brood pile has grown by 50% *gulp. They’ve started moving their pupae near the heated area of the tube, I was able to get a good look at the egg pile that is usually concealed by pupae. The queen is definitely not done laying. I’m super proud of this colony. I can’t wait until they get into the hundreds!
