1. Location (on a map) of collection: Hungary, Central Europe
2. Date of collection: 2021. July 06. (around noon, hot sunny weather)
3. Habitat of collection: Grass, near pavement
4. Length (from head to gaster): ~9 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black, smooth, but not shiny, maybe very slightly redish on the head and torax if I direct light, black gaster. Got the 3 dots mark on the forehead. You can see in one pic the jaws open.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Was winged when captured, lost one wind during capture, the other wing she teared off shortly after she was placed in test tube setup
7. Distinguishing behavior: Non agressive, behaves cautious, but accepted honey immediatelly. Seems she prefer moist, hangs out close to the wet side of the test tube setup.
8. Nest description: -

9. Nuptial flight time and date: July 06.

I am very confused what she could be: a smaller Camponotus? Kind of Taponoma? Or?

Thank you!  :)

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
