Ok, in the future I will do that.

I agree she looks like a Lasius sp. ant...

My initial thought (not that I'm very good at this) was Lasius neoniger, but wouldn't it be a bit early in the season for that species?

Is there any way to know if she is a social parasite or not?

NOT a parasite due to the pleasantly plump gaster. Could be L. americanus if it’s this early.

Doubt this is L. americanus purely due to the bright yellow legs. That is commonly a feature of other species, such as L. neoniger, L. brevicornis, L. nearcticus, etc. If it has erect hairs on the scapes it is for sure not americanus.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
