Little Mounds of Dirt

I saw a lot of these along the ground after it rained, just little mounds without any visible holes. Does anyone know what these are? Ants clearing out their nests after a rain is what I figured. But I don't know anything, there might bee a queen for each of these mounds for all I know.

Worm castings.

 

There are many insects that leave small mounds of dirt like those after it rains, including some queen ants, but that particular dirt has clearly been extruded and most likely left behind by worms.
