Indoor bird poo is different to outdoor. Out door birds have a more variety diet thus more in their poo worthy of ants.

Young ant keeper with a decent amount of knowledge on local ant species.

YouTube: https://m.youtube.co...uKsahGliSH7EqOQ (It's pretty dead. Might upload again soon, don't expect my voice to sound the same though.)

Currently kept ant species, favorites have a star in front of their names (NOT in alphabetical order, also may be outdated sometimes): Camponotus irritans inferior, Ooceraea biroi, Pheidole parva, Nylanderia sp., Paraparatrechina tapinomoides, Platythyrea sp., Anochetus sp., Colobopsis sp. (cylindrica group), Crematogaster ferrarii, Polyrhachis (Myrma) cf. pruinosa, Polyrhachis (Cyrtomyrma) laevissima, Tapinoma sp. (formerly Zatapinoma)

Death count: Probably over a hundred individual queens and colonies by now. I cannot recall whatsoever.

Sorry it took a long time to update you but here are the workers! The other queen's workers are exactly the same as this one so I didn't take a picture of them.

Here's the Paratopula drinking some sugar water, they have a lot of workers now.

WhatsApp Image 2022-01-13 at 10.26.15 PM.jpeg

And one more thing I almost forgot, I caught a Gnamptogenys queen! She already laid an egg but it's hard for me to take a picture... She is the first queen I caught this year.

I found a Carebara affinis queen under a piece of bark! She didn't have eggs yet even before I caught her.

O. simillimus has a fifth worker and and three new larvae.

Gnamptogenys has about three or four eggs.

Unfortunately, Platythyrea died.

One Colobopsis queen might have a larva.

I have identified the unknown Ponerinae as Brachyponera.

The Pharaoh ants have returned and killed my mealworms and trying to invade my colonies.

are you confused? because the colbopsis didn't die and the exterminator probably wouldn't do much and might kill their colonies in the process

It's really sad, they also ate their own eggs and are really picky. I preserved them for rememberance. Now I have strict measures to ensure neither the pharaoh ants nor the mites will come back. And when I move to the new house in the forest (which I predict probably won't happen until 2025), I really really hope that no enemies will come and destroy my ants and other pets.

And I just remembered that I have a trap jaw queen who is killed by pharaoh ants only about 10 minutes after capture.

I hate Monomorium. I found out that they only exist where very few other invasive ant species are present. If you have a good number of BCA around your house, they won't really attack your ants. bCA are also quite passive so they won't really attack your ants either.

The only other invasive ants in my house are BCA and ghost ants. I've only located 2 BCA nests and both only have about 50-100 workers each, one outside and one somewhere in my house but they are rather shy and move out quite often. The ghost ants are almost completely gone. To make it worse, there are like, three or four species of Monomorium living in my house and the majority are Pharaoh ants (the others are M. monomorium, M. floricola (lowest in population) and a possible unidentified species). Me and my dad have been trying to control them but they seem to be invincible. They even seem to be immune to ant poison.

I think the ones that kill your ants are terrible but I love Monomorium minimum they were my fav colony when I kept them. But I agree that the ones in your house(not in captivity) but the infestation should probably die.

I've made up a rule to always kill pharaoh ant queens whenever I see them to prevent new colonies from forming. I also had to kill any colonies I discover and make sure none of the queens survive (alates also count). Back before I made this journal pharaoh ant activity was common in my ant room and many colonies started to move in and I noticed a few workers with mites , I killed them of course but some might have snuck into my ants' nests which make it possible for the pharaoh ants to cause the many mite infestations that happened in my ant room without me noticing.

You don't raise ants that invade your own house lmao. Just adding to the problem. Not every species is meant to be kept.
