Workers emerging from a brood pile.
Workers emerging from a brood pile.
Is that the first Batch of workers? They make quite a bit of workers
Nice. Yeah they usually have about 50 workers in their first bunch.
Very nice!
I just cleaned out a Piece Of Heaven - from THA, and it was done with tap water. I plan to use it on this species, but I'm not sure how sensitive they are to that kind of stuff, think they will be good ? Also, how big is your queen ?
I would let it fully dry first.
They are good at taking down prey.
What are they feeding on?
Feeling alone out of all the SoCal anters to not have one of these...
Any Update with that Colony? Been a month, curious to hear/see how they have progressed for you.
they havent been online since 2016 they are not going to update this journal and even if the7 did they would probably say this colony is dead because a like 6 year old colony of these would be HUUUUUUGE

I just realized the year. I just read the date and was like oh that was just the other week Lol, no.
oops! Haha, I am still getting the hang of this sites oldschool layout.
I read a lot about these just dying out. My queen has larve currently so will see what happens. Just limited information I can find on people having success with these. Which seems to be because of something with them dying out when keeping them I presume. But at same time I have heard others say it is great beginner species and is easy. I intend to feed a lot and have them in a formicarium immedeatly. So, time will tell.
