Just a quick update. Worker numbers, and brood piles continue to grow.
Tub and tubes (Offered a new test tube to replace nasty one. We'll see if they move over.)
The mini hearth queen and her brood piles.

The brood pile on the mini hearth colony, and all the larvae stuck to the back wall is simply amazing.

Just a quick shot of the mini hearth colony. I need to make some new nests for all these tetra colonies. Haven't had the time.

Both colonies are still growing very well. Plenty of brood. Although the mini hearth colony does seem to be growing quite a bit faster than the tub and tubes setup. Also the mini hearth queen still has her wings. (At least some of them.)

Are you planning to hibernate your girls at all? My lady also has a literal pillar of brood connecting the top and bottom of their chamber lol.
Feel like I'd have to actively force her into it with a gradual temperature stepdown in a wine cooler before she stops laying at this point, but maybe she'll slow down more by the holidays.

Probably will start putting them in the fridge towards the end of November. Then full diapause by December.

The mini hearth colony is doing well still. Some slightly concerning removal of sand in the back left corner of the mini hearth. I'm hoping to get them moved to a new nest I made this week. (Although I'm wishing I just bought something from THA after making it. ) The tub and tubes colony is also growing fast and will needing a nest soon as well.

I just realized, are you using an ear plug as the stopper? Genius!

Update on these colonies. They continue to grow, the tub and tubes colony doesn't want to move out of their old tube. I also attempted to make my own nest/outworld for the mini hearth colony. It's not as easy as I thought, and I'll most likely have to buy a THA nest for them. I haven't had any escapes from the one I made yet, but I think it's a matter of time. The container lid doesn't seal as well as I thought. Ended up adding painters tape and putting the whole setup in a tub with water. That way if they do escape they can't get anywhere.

Colony in my home made setup seems to be doing well.... But we had a disaster with the tub and tubes setup. Some of the workers pushed through the cotton into the water. Lost about 15 or so. Thankfully I have a few mini hearths coming soon.

Got the tub and tubes colony moved into a XL mini hearth I grabbed from the black Friday sale. The colony in the nest I made seems to be doing fine as well.
