This queen was caught may 19th after a morning flight.the colony she came from has diurnal workers and they have slightly rust colored heads and are not polymorphic. The queen is 8-9mm .someone suggested myrmecocystus depilis but in a book on ants surveyed in west Texas they are not found where she was caught

Not Depilis, eyes too small. Looks to be in Eremnocystus group, one of these:
- Myrmecocystus arenarius
- Myrmecocystus colei
- Myrmecocystus creightoni
- Myrmecocystus hammettensis
- Myrmecocystus lugubris
- Myrmecocystus perimeces
- Myrmecocystus tenuinodis
- Myrmecocystus yuma
