Yikes!! Kill it... with FIRE. That is why people advocate buying live food from a pet store. Local food insects can be carrying anything including pesticides.

 

Also sanitize any kind of local wood you add to a nest with at least boiling water.

 

I still use local insects as feeders, but I never claimed to be smart.  :blink:

It seems that processed foods, like KFC, are perfectly fine to feed your ants if they are T. Sessile.


Species I keep:

 

1 Lasius cf. Neoniger 30 workers

1 Camponotus sp. 15 workers

20 Tetramorium SpE 30 workers

1 T. Sessile 200 workers

Guys i do not buy live foods from any store. They are all mine production. The problem is, outworld has a little little hollows for air con. When i was in holiday ( 10 days ) i realized that i forgot cleaning the nest. ( death insects )

I had a dream last night I woke up to those red mites all over every colony I keep. This post must have traumatized me and subconsciously stayed with me.  :lol:
