1. Location of collection: Indianapolis Indiana, found on my driveway in suburban area

2. Date of collection: 6/21/2021
3. Habitat of collection: Lightly wooded residential area
4. Length: ~11mm
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: Dark red coloration on entire body
6. Distinguishing characteristics : Fat gaster and darker red coloration on thorax
7. Anything else distinctive: Queen was moving very quickly
8. Nest description: Collected founding queen

9. Nuptial flight time and date: it has been raining a lot the past week where I live

Possibly Formica, but definitely not Solenopsis.

Looks like a Formica in the pallidefulva group. Nice find.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
