My queen that I caught 3 days ago has finally laid eggs. But there is a strange spot on her rear end. It's brown and is slightly 3D, as in it sticks out. It wasn't there when I first found her, is there any mites that meet this description. Best photo I could get, any suggestions could help.

I can't seem to add the photo. I'll have to add it tomorrow when I have access to my computer. Suggestions would still be nice if the description is good enough

it could be some sort of mite. best case of action would be to use some tweezers/forceps to attempt to pull it off. If it's a mite, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to pull off. You may even be able to blow it off.

or dunk the queen in water until you see the mite float off

Okay ill try both. Heres a photo. Youll probably have to zoom in, its on the front of the gastor

Honestly, I went with tweezers to maybe pull it off but when I removed the cotton and got a good look I think all it is is how the gastor is swollen along with the coloration of the ant.
