I bought this queen 2 months ago and so far they are doing decent, I haven't started this sooner cuz I wasn't sure if I would make a journal, colony only ahs 1 worker with many more to come, today I've just fed them honey water and their first protein!  :lol:

The fourth worker is here! in a few days the workers from the first batch of eggs will arrive. Can't wait for the next generation of workers! :D

Yes, i give her honey and meal worms a few times a week and i keep her wrapped in newspaper in a shoebox

she stays at the back and freezes, some of the workers do the same but there's always one that decides to go to the front these ants have excellent eyesight


mini update: larvae are starting to pupate faster, the colony is growing fast

mini update: one of the workers fell into honey water, luckily her fellow workers pulled her out and fed her, also is this happening for anyone else, the colony had 1 larvae who pupated a lot faster than the other ones, they hatched around the same time and have of the larvae are still pretty small

strange green and black mold is starting to spread on the cotton, probably caused by ant poop

Yeah. This happens with my Lasius colony a lot. I suppose its because the workers spam feed one, making it grow faster. I guess this way the colony gets more workers. More workers = more foraging time = more food( this is probably what happens in the wild.)
