I also caught a spiny red queen so i gave it leaves because you know who it is (its not atta) https://imgur.com/gallery/LFpQXF9https://imgur.com/gallery/p5sQQMo ENJOY new queen pics I also caught a spiny red queen so i gave it leaves because you know who it is (its not atta) https://imgur.com/gallery/LFpQXF9https://imgur.com/gallery/p5sQQMo ENJOY new queen pics

Please click the post button only once next time. Nice catch, but we actually don’t know what it is. I assume you’re guessing it’s an Acromyrmex queen since you gave it leaves and said that it’s not Atta, but it’s not an Acromyrmex. It kinda looks like a Colobopsis or Camponotus queen.

He does have an Acromyrmex queen. In OhNoNotAgain's he asked for tips for how to care for her.

Looks like you’ve got a queen there, which is pretty cool. Please remember to keep them well, as it will be hard to raise a colony of these. You’d probably need a dirt box or plaster formicarium for this species.

You need to feed them protein. An example of this is insects. Also you can ask all the questions you may have and people who’ve kept Odontomachus before should be able to answer them.

Neat! I’d suggest a good ol’ tubs n tubes setup will work plenty good for them. Have fun, I’m so jealous that there aren’t any odontos down here.

Currently: Considering moving to Australia
Reason: Myrmecia

Well boys i have good and bad news. The bad news is the odontomachus colony has had two deaths. And one worker is walking around with missing legs and a broken. Missing jaw. I have place them in a mini terrarium and fed them. Good news is... https://imgur.com/a/jKBMMQrcamponotus had larvae!!!! This is amazing news considering the other colonies took months to get larvae

How big is the colony? I also recently captured an Odontomachus colony(I seriously need to stop collecting Odontomachus colonies and queens, I have 10-20 queens and it is a pain feeding). My new colony also has had deaths, which is common in large colonies. I have found many wild trap jaws with only one jaw, probably due to colony fighting.

Also, my Odontomachus will drink pooled nectar every few days, so try that.

It’s not worth it trying to have an educated conversation on here.

Guys. Something truly AMAZING HAS HAPPENED!!! Its almost 10:00 and I'm ready to go to bed but i decided to check my colonies. I took a look at my Camponotus queens brood pile and wondered "hey where was that big chunky larva from days ago

Turns out i saw it spinning a cocoon!!! this is even better news considering i never got to pupa phase ever. Id be shocked to see workers in a week!! https://imgur.com/a/8dzFCqW

I mean. They took only 2 days to get from larva stage to pupa stage and the caresheet says it takes about 15 days. How did this happen? Why is her colony growing so fast

So it took 2 days for a 1st instar larva to become a pupa? I'm not sure that's possible...
