Wondering why my new captured queen *June 1st Nampa Idaho * is moving cotton? Should I put some dirt or wood chips? Posible ID

Looks like Camponotus ( or Colobopsis ), from what I know, they tend to pull on the cotton at first

Looks to be small for Camponotus, but my guess is as good as anyone's.

Seems the right size for a Myrmentoma queen

Doubtful. C. Hyatti are much darker, and both their head and gaster are black/brown. My guess is C. Discolor.

this is in idaho. Discolor is an eastern species.

Possible species: C. Bicolor, C. Discolor, C. Sayi, and possibly C. Hyatti. The thing is, Manitobant is right. None of these species listed are native to Idaho.
