I bet that's a tightly guarded secret among the THA crew.
My Journals:
Current Species:
Camponotus fragilis
Novomessor cockerelli
Pogonomyrmex montanus
Pogonomyrmex rugosus
Manica bradleyi
I heard Drew hates circles.
I heard Drew hates circles.
But, do you know where I can find one?
The closest thing I've easily found was a deep culture petri dish, but the ones you generally find are around half the height or less of these. You can find 100-150 x 25 mm dishes on Amazon.
You'll have to do your own research to find 150 x 65 mm dishes, which are the dimensions according to the THA website.
I've come to the conclusion that the container might not be sold as a petri dish.

That's what I'm thinking too. I haven't looked for them myself though... for obvious reasons.
I bet that's it, or made by the same manufacturer.
It seems like we are still able to buy these individually without ordering hundreds of them.
So, you can individually order 6" x 2.5" case for about 10 dollars or with a different ones for about 20 dollars.
Sample Request
• We limit sample requests to 6 unique samples per order.
• We try our best to accommodate your color choice.

• We don’t back order samples. In the event that a requested item is not available. We will send an email notification to you and charge only for shipped items plus the handling fee. If all your items are not available then the order is canceled.
• $7.50 Ground shipping is included with your sample order for all continental U.S. shipments by default. If you choose to use your own UPS account number in lieu of our $7.50 rate your UPS account will be billed for all shipping costs

I was on a quest to find a different type of container yesterday and came upon a few that were similar. Check out tedpella.com and aliexpress.com. I was googling "plastic container lid" or "plastic jewel box" and got a number of different hits.
I've had 0 luck finding a long rectangular box, just slightly larger than a test tube. Any ideas? Seems everything is square-ish.
Camponotus vicinus, Crematogaster 1, Crematogaster 2, Formica francoeuri, *, *, Myrmecocystus testaceus, Novomessor cockerelli, Pheidole hyatti, Pogonomyrmex californicus, Pogonomyrmex rugosus, Solenopsis invicta

Why don't you just use the ones from the Container Store? The shallow ones should be fairly cost effective.

Why not just buy some of the ones I have that are the exact size of test tubes? You don't have to drive down here; I can ship them you know.
Howdy! and where did you get yours Drew?? if you don't mind me asking??

Those look along the lines of what I need. Narrower would save space but that's already narrow enough. Thanks!

Ok cool, I'm not sure how many you have so I was hoping to find a source. I may try using these with dirt-filled test tubes for Pogonomyrmex next time, which this year I would've needed ~30. I made a stop-gap solution today so let me first see how this works out.

I have about 50 of them. I'll sell them for $1 a piece.
