Bombus affinis? Alexandria, VA

Oh well. I heard back from Droege, and this is Bombus griseocollis, the brown belted bumblebee. Still cool to add a new species to my list here in my native garden. Go to the full post

Could this possibly be the endangered rusty patch bumblebee? Focus on the second abdominal segment; I clearly see a rusty patch. I emailed Sam Droege at the USGS for confirmation. What do you all think?

In my yard I’ve seen the following bumblebee species: Bombus impatiens, B. bimaculatus, B. pennsylvanicus, B. perplexus, B. griseocollis.
