Hi I am assuming this is a myrmica but not sure if queen or not. Found in Belgium. 18f23d28b32d1027896f6ce41611cfbd.jpg3df5c673db9520e6afb6b2078f396fc3.jpgc31021a6bc74840f02558dd19e66e4bc.jpg6e44c806a4e33fa0d85d3238b9bd8b72.jpg

Young ant keeper with a decent amount of knowledge on local ant species.

YouTube: https://m.youtube.co...uKsahGliSH7EqOQ (It's pretty dead. Might upload again soon, don't expect my voice to sound the same though.)

Currently kept ant species, favorites have a star in front of their names (NOT in alphabetical order, also may be outdated sometimes): Camponotus irritans inferior, Ooceraea biroi, Pheidole parva, Nylanderia sp., Paraparatrechina tapinomoides, Platythyrea sp., Anochetus sp., Colobopsis sp. (cylindrica group), Crematogaster ferrarii, Polyrhachis (Myrma) cf. pruinosa, Polyrhachis (Cyrtomyrma) laevissima, Tapinoma sp. (formerly Zatapinoma)

Death count: Probably over a hundred individual queens and colonies by now. I cannot recall whatsoever.

Definetly a queen, but, is it just me, or does it seem too large for a Myrmica? maybe it's Manica rubida

I have a colony of Myrmica Rubra and this queen seems to be slightly smaller. I'll check what's flying around atm and come back.

Huh? Alright, I was sure they were smaller than that, maybe just my queen is very small.

Or maybe I was sold the wrong species? Lol I am not going to put my hand in the nest to find out that's for sure

It’s definitely a myrmica species of some sort. Good luck finding the exact species though, as they are almost impossible to ID without a microscope.

Just updating, she has laid about 10 eggs since I caught her. Vicious creature but such a loving mother
