Hello guys!
I have couple questions that i reallu want to know. How big does c. Pennsylvanicus colony grow up to?? Right now I have two queens in a test tube set up and I'm having difficult deciding which formicarium I should buy. I'm debating between THA nucleus 4x8 or the AntsCanada omni nest(the original one instead of vertical due to people having a lot of complaints even though it does look cool lol) I've read that keeping camponotus species is hard due to ants keeping food in their nest and having a lot of fungus problems. Is this true? Please help me out.
Thank you

Camponotus usually grow quite slowly, usually less than 40 workers in the first year.  As long as they fill at least 1/2 of the nest I find they do not usually store garbage in the nest.

I can't really give an opinion of those nests since I tend to make my own nests.  So that I can easily upgrade the nest size to suit the colony size.  http://www.formicult...of-handy-links/

How many ants do you have? Just two queens?  It is always recommended to start with a smaller preformed formicarium nest, because as Crystals mentioned, larger nests tend to entice ants to create trash piles in the nest, which can lead to mold.

Any tips on how to make two Camponotus Pennsylvanicus queens get along and play nice?

I got 2 queens with a bunch of pupae each in two seperate tube setups.

Is a combined nest possible?
